Paul Pogba passes medical ahead of record Manchester United transfer deal

August 8, 2016 by David White

Paul Pogba reportedly passes Manchester United medical on Monday afternoon

The Juventus midfielder is expected to sign for a fee of €105m (or £89m)

Paul Pogba will become the World’s most expensive footballer when, as expected, he joins Manchester United for over £100 million tomorrow.

The Reds confirmed that Italian giants Juventus had given the 23-year-old French midfield star permission to undergo a medical, which he reportedly passed today.

There is already apparently a picture of Pogba with some of United’s laundry staff circulating on social media as expectation grows.

United’s new manager, Jose Mourinho, confirmed that he would be meeting the player tomorrow, but said that he had no knowledge of the transfer fee.

“I will be waiting for him on Tuesday. United will be the perfect club for him and the Premier League is the perfect habitat,” said Mourinho.

“He wants to be the best player in the World and at United he has the right conditions. He will be in a team which wants to bring United to the top.

“He wants to be part of the United project. He knows the club, the city and many of the players from when he was here before. Money is not the point.

“It is a lot of money to pay, but football is crazy – the market is crazy – but three years from now it may not be crazy anymore. I don’t know what is expensive and what is not expensive in football anymore.

“Real Madrid were not upset when they paid record fees for Christiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale because breaking the transfer record is not a reason to be sad.”

Red ambition for Mourinho

Looking ahead to the new season, Mourinho said: “We are changing the principles of our play. At the moment we are not a super team, but a team with a super desire to win.

“My ambition is to win every game. It may be a stupid ambition, but you have to have the motivation to always improve.”

When asked about Pogba’s fitness, Mourinho joked: “He does Kung Fu, he plays basketball….. he must be fit!”
