Rooney to be fit for England duty

October 3, 2013 by Paul Chan

Wayne Rooney could recover from a shin injury in time to report for England duty next week.

The injury flared up and prevented his participation in Manchester United’s away game in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night but was omitted from the squad after his shin swelled up.

United manager David Moyes confirmed that Rooney would be fit for England duty provided he made it through United’s trip to Sunderland this weekend unscathed.

Moyes said: “It’s not that serious. He took a clash of shins with Danny Welbeck and it’s just swollen up.”
