Manchester City’s chance to avenge FA Cup final defeat after home draw against holders Wigan

February 16, 2014 by Paul Chan

Manchester City will have a chance to avenge their Cup final defeat against Wigan Athletic in May 2013 after they were drawn together in the quarter final of the 2014 competition this afternoon.

City beat Chelsea on Saturday while current FA Cup holders Wigan, now managed by former City striker Uwe Rosler, beat Cardiff City to set up the tie at the Etihad.

Former Wigan manager Roberto Martinez, now in charge of Everton, could be taking his side to the Emirates Stadium or to Anfield depending on the result of today’s FA Cup tie between Arsenal and Liverpool.

Full Draw

Arsenal or Liverpool v Everton

Brighton & Hove Albion or Hull City v Sunderland

Sheffield United or Nottingham Forest v Sheffield Wednesday or Charlton Athletic

Manchester City v Wigan Athletic

Ties to be played on the weekend of March 8-9.

Updated: Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1, and Sheffield United beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 to progress to the quarter finals. The Sheffield Wednesday v Charlton Athletic game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
