Oldham Athletic get plum Capital One Cup tie against Middlesbrough

June 17, 2014 by Paul Chan

OLDHAM ATHLETIC GET CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB MIDDLESBROUGH, MANCHESTER UNITED TO ENTER IN ROUND TWO

Oldham Athletic will face Championship club Middlesbrough at Boundary Park in the first round of the Capital One Cup this year.

Boro secured a 12th place finish in the Championship last season and are managed by former Real Madrid assistant boss Aitor Karanka.

Due to a lack of European football, Manchester United will enter the competition at the second round stage in the 2014/2015 season.

Manchester City, the title holders, will enter the draw in the third round due to their involvement in the UEFA Champions League.

Ties will be played week commencing August 11 2014.
