December 2, 2015 by Paul Chan

City avoid Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who demolished Southampton 6-1 at St Mary’s

The draw for the Semi Final of the Capital One Cup has been made the the Merseyside clubs have been kept apart with Manchester City being drawn against Everton and Stoke City getting Liverpool.

Manchester City beat Hull City 4-1 at the Etihad yesterday while Everton won 2-0 at Middlesbrough and Stoke beat Sheffield Wednesday by the same scoreline at home.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool thrashed Southampton tonight by a 6-1 scoreline at Saint Mary’s with a brace for returning striker Daniel Sturridge alongside a hat trick for Divock Origi and a sixth goal for Jordan Ibe.

The Reds have hit a rich vein of form, beating Manchester City 4-1 at the Etihad on November 21 and going on to win 2-1 at home against Bordeaux in the Europa League and 1-0 against Swansea before producing an astonishing result against the Saints tonight.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman had bemoaned refereeing decisions against his team when they lost 3-1 at the Etihad last weekend but could have no complaints about the comprehensive defeat tonight.
