Manchester clubs face away trips in 4th Round of the FA Cup

January 11, 2016 by Paul Chan

Both of Manchester’s Premier League clubs face away trips in the Fourth Round of the Emirates FA Cup after the draw was made tonight.

Manchester United beat Sheffield United with an injury time Wayne Rooney penalty after another sterile defensive performance while Manchester City thrashed Norwich City 3-0 at Carrow Road with striker Sergio Aguero scoring and coming into form.

United will travel to Championship outfit Derby County while City must wait for the outcome of a 3rd Round replay between Aston Villa and Wycombe Wanderers before finding out where they must travel.

The Reds last faced Derby County in February 2009, an FA Cup tie, almost seven years ago. They beat the Rams 4-1 away with goals by Nani, Darron Gibson, Cristiano Ronaldo and Danny Welbeck.

League 2 Wycombe held Villa to a 1-1 draw but the Villans, who have ex-City players Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards in their squad, will fancy their chances of winning the replay on Tuesday January 19.

The FA Cup remains a significant piece of silverware for both United and City this season and a competition in which both managers feel victory will be a vindication for their vastly differing methods.
