Oldham Athletic face a trip to Lincoln City in the FA Cup

November 7, 2016 by Paul Chan

Oldham Athletic face a trip to Lincoln City after the draw to the second round of this season’s FA Cup was made.

The Imps are currently second in the Vanarama National League, seven points behind league leaders Forest Green, and are challenging for promotion to League Two.

They have scored 36 goals in 18 league games and will present a serious challenge to the Latics’ efforts to win a place in the third round and a possible lucrative tie with a Premier League club.

The Latics, by comparison, have scored just nine goals in their 16 league games so far.

Oldham could have secured a potential local derby with Curzon Ashton who will instead host Bury of AFC Wimbledon if they can overcome the lowest ranked side remaining in the competition – ninth tier Westfields – in a replay at the Tameside Stadium.
