The Reds left back has been replaced in the England squad by Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell, 21, who was promoted from Aidy Boothroyd’s Under 21 squad with Bristol City’s Chelsea loanee Jay Dasilva drafted in to replace him.

Chilwell made his England debut against Switzerland on September 11 having made the left back spot in the Leicester team his own.

Luke Shaw given time to recover for Chelsea game

Shaw, 23, had previously been stretchered off with a head injury whilst on England duty against Spain on September 8 but will be given time to recover ahead of United’s vital trip to Stamford Bridge to play manager Jose Mourinho’s former team Chelsea.

On Sunday, uncapped Brighton defender Lewis Dunk, 26, was given a call-up by England manager Gareth Southgate after an injury to Burnley’s James Tarkowski, 25, who suffered a groin injury.

Dunk could make his debut along with three other newcomers to the England squad who were called up recently: Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount, and James Maddison were all promoted from the U21 set-up after a spate of injuries to senior players.
