Manchester United to face Liverpool in glamour FA Cup tie

January 11, 2021 by Paul Chan

Manchester United will host Liverpool in the tie of the fourth round of this season’s FA Cup which will be played later this month.

The clash of the Premier League top two comes as United are poised to reach the summit if they earn at least a point from their game in hand over their rivals from down the East Lancs Road.

The winners of the tie will host West Ham or Doncaster Rovers – the Hammers beat Stockport County to earn the chance of a trip to Old Trafford if they beat the Dons in the Fourth Round.

Manchester City face a trip to League Two side Cheltenham Town in their FA Cup tie and will also be on the road if they make it past The Robins with a possible trip to Swansea City or Nottingham Forest waiting in the Fifth Round.

Cheltenham were flying high in League Two earlier in the season but slipped into the play-off places after a run of five winless games in the league.

Swansea City are pushing for promotion to the Premier League while Nottingham Forest are currently hovering just 3 points above the Championship relegation zone.

The Fourth Round Ties will be played on the weekend of January 23-24 while the Fifth Round Ties will be played on February 9-11.
