Ilkay Gundogan, Pep Guardiola, and Lucy Bronze have won awards as Manchester City’s men and women won every game in February.

Gundogan and Guardiola were awarded Player and Manager of the Month in the Premier League for the second month in a row.

Gundogan helped City break a domestic record for most consecutive Premier League wins (15) as well as the English top flight record for wins since the start of a calendar year (9).

February saw City continue their hot streak of form since the start of the year with six league wins out of six against Burnley, Spurs, Everton, Arsenal, West Ham, and a 4-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield – their first victory there since 2003.

During this time City scored 15 goals, conceding just 3 in the league as records tumbled during their rise from mid table in December to a clear lead at the top of the Premier League in February.

Gundogan became the first German to win the Premier League accolade twice while City boss Pep Guardiola moved to outright fourth in the all time list of Premier League Manager of the Month award recipients with 9.

Ahead of the Catalan are Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, and David Moyes respectively.

Lucy Bronze wins FA WSL Player of the Month for February

City made it a hat trick of awards for the month of February when Lucy Bronze landed the FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL) Player of the month award for February.

Bronze was instrumental in both defence and attack as City won all three of their WSL games in February – against Arsenal, Manchester United, and Birmingham City – to stay within touching distance of the league summit.

The 29-year-old scored in the Manchester Derby and helped the Blues keep clean sheets against United and Birmingham City as City remained in second place, two points behind league leaders Chelsea with a winner-takes-all encounter to come in April.

Bronze beat Everton’s on-loan City midfielder Jill Scott, Reading’s Natasha Harding, and Brighton’s Aileen Whelan to the prize.
