Manchester United 1, Omonia Nicosia 0 – Player Ratings

October 13, 2022 by Paul Chan

PLAYER RATINGS – Man Utd 1, Omonia Nicosia 0

David De Gea: 6. Faced very little in the first half, should have been tested by Bruno after he broke free.

Diogo Dalot: 6. Solid showing at right back, not too much adventure.

Victor Lindelof: 6. Lost out in a foot race with Bruno when Omonia found a through ball to him.

Lisandro Martinez: 7. Stood up firm when Andronikos Kakoulli was through on goal.

Tyrell Malacia: 6. Recalled to defence, one good run and cross set up Ronaldo for a chance.

Casemiro: 8. Rocket of a shot tipped onto the crossbar and a header wide from a corner, neat passing in midfield. Tired later in the second half.

Fred: 6. Reunited with his midfield partner for Brazil, looked a bit rusty at times. Headed over after Antony dropped a cross right on his head plus a second half shot right at Francis Uzoho. Caught on the break as Omonia looked for another trademark breakaway.

Antony: 6. A bit isolated on the right flank, did well when he got closer to Ronaldo. Had a second half shot saved when clean through.

Bruno Fernandes: 7. Developing a nice relationship with Marcus Rashford and went close himself.

Marcus Rashford: 8. Back in good form – had six prime chances to score but couldn’t beat Francis Uzoho.

Cristiano Ronaldo: 6. Worked hard but didn’t get many great openings.

Luke Shaw (for Malacia, 60): 6. Pushed up more from left back.

Jadon Sancho (for Antony, 60): 6. Not much effect on United chance creation

Christian Eriksen (for Fred, 70): 6. Didn’t add the extra spark required.

Scott McTominay (on for Casemiro, 81): Had a few wild shots like most of his team mates but came up with the winner in injury time.
