Manchester United 1, West Ham 0 – Player Ratings

October 30, 2022 by Paul Chan

Marcus Rashford headed home his 100th goal for United but David De Gea made a string of saves to keep a 5th consecutive home clean sheet.

PLAYER RATINGS – Manchester United 1, West Ham 0

David De Gea: 8. Came off his line to reach the ball before Said Benrahma – ballsy move. Busier in the second half. Saved from Benrahma, Michail Antonio, Kurt Zouma and also a massive save from Declan Rice in injury time.

Diogo Dalot: 8. Good attacking progress but importantly a couple of good defensive headers as he showed his defensive discipline as West Ham turned up the heat in the second half.

Harry Maguire: 6. Blocked a shot from Said Benrahma and later from Jarrod Bowen but had to be bailed out by Lisandro Martinez several times

Lisandro Martinez: 8. Came across to intercept an early run on goal by Said Benrahma. Bailed out his partner Harry Maguire several times.

Luke Shaw: 7. Prime chance to show he can go to the World Cup, solid defending and decent going forward. Laid on a great chance for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Casemiro: 7. Outclassed Flynn Downes in midfield and mopped up loose balls, some good balls forward too.

Christian Eriksen: 7. Radar was off early on, set pieces were poor until one lofted ball into the box was converted by Marcus Rashford.

Anthony Elanga: 6. Shot wide with just Lucas Fabianski to beat. Poor attacking threat.

Bruno Fernandes: 6. Blocked out and deeper than usual. 5th Booking means he misses United’s next Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Marcus Rashford: 7. In his eagerness to get a goal he stole a square pass from Diogo Dalot to Ronaldo and fluffed it. Had a couple of other chances saved by Lucasz Fabianski and a poor touch on occasion. Great goal though and could have scored again in the second half.

Cristiano Ronaldo: 6. Was in the right place for a shot on goal but found himself robbed by Marcus Rashford, had another shot saved by Lucasz Fabianski. Headed a good cross by Luke Shaw wide and sent a couple of chance wide.

Scott McTominay (on for Anthony Elanga, 61): 6. Offered more of a goal threat and almost set up a second goal for Fred.

Fred (on for Christian Eriksen, 77): Hit the post with a header. No time to mark
