Laura Coombs scored a deserved equaliser after Leah Galton scored Manchester United’s first goal at Manchester City in the WSL.

Man City Women – Player Ratings

Ellie Roebuck: 7. Kept busy with balls into the box and saved a great chance from Martha Thomas.

Kerstin Casparij: 6. Tenacious defending.

Laia Aleixandri: 6. Dominated her box but Leah Galton came inside and beat her to start the move that ended with the United opening goal.

Alex Greenwood: 6. Free kick came back off the wall

Leila Ouahabi: 7. Attacked well up her flank but also had to watch out for Ex-City player Nikita Parris. Great cross to set up Khadija Shaw.

Yui Hasegawa: 7. Cut out United’s attacks well, and also went upfield too.

Laura Coombs: 7. Good distribution and involvement in midfield and sharp enough to connect with Chloe Kelly’s cross to head in the equaliser.

Deyna Castellanos: 6. Tested Mary Earps with early shots on her goal and tried to put some crosses into the box. Poor control wasted a fine late chance.

Chloe Kelly: 6. Almost scored direct from a corner but didn’t have her customary explosive impact on the game until she put in a great cross for the equaliser and improved from there.

Lauren Hemp: 6. Coming back into action after injury layoff. Showed flashes of talent and got involved wholeheartedly.

Khadija Shaw: 6. Forced wide too much, couldn’t connect with a great ball into the box early on but persevered and had a late chances saved by Mary Earps.

Hayley Raso (on for Chloe Kelly, 85): No time to mark.

Man Utd Women – Player Ratings

Mary Earps: 7. Prevented a goal direct from the Chloe Kelly’s early corner and saved from Lauren Hemp, Deyna Castellanos, and twice from Khadija Shaw.

Ona Batlle: 6. Dealt with the threat of Lauren Hemp.

Maya Le Tissier: 6. Comfortable afternoon but missed late run of Laura Coombs.

Millie Turner: 7. Cleared a ball into the box in the second half which City could have capitalised on.

Hannah Blundell: 6. Broke the lines to supply the ball for Nikita Parris and had another ball into the box cut out by Alex Greenwood.

Hayley Ladd: 7. Looked after Laura Coombs to stymie City’s build up.

Katie Zelem: 7. Successfully blocked up the midfield channels to slow City’s progress.

Nikita Parris: 6. Early knock to the head didn’t faze her, always looked to come inside and was a goal threat early on but faded in the second half.

Ella Toone: 6. Set up United’s opening goal.

Leah Galton: 7. Kept Kerstin Casperij busy on the United left flank and came inside to open the United scoring with a neat finish.

Alessia Russo: 6. Offside early on, little bit isolated. More involved in the second half and pulled a great shot wide.

Martha Thomas (on for Nikita Parris, 72): 7. Had a shot blocked.

Lucia Garcia (on for Alessia Russo, 84): No time to mark

Man City Women 0, Man Utd Women 1: 28. Leah Galton skipped inside, avoided the tackle from Laia Aleixandri and exchanged passes with Ella Toone before slotting past Ellie Roebuck at the near post.

Man City Women 1, Man Utd Women 1: 59. Laura Coombs broke into the box and headed in the equaliser from Chloe Kelly’s cross.
