PLAYER RATINGS – Manchester United 3, AFC Bournemouth 0

David De Gea: 8. Saves from Phil Billing, Dominic Solanke, and twice from Jaidon Anthony as Bournemouth tried to make full use of the big switch from Lewis Cook and crosses by Adam Smith.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 7. Wholeheartedly got involved in battle with some tackles to break up what little attack Bournemouth sent down his flank.

Victor Lindelof: 7. Comfortable evening playing on the left side of central defence.

Harry Maguire: 7. Played on the right side of the central defensive pairing. Some nervous moments but generally solid.

Luke Shaw: 8. Restored to left back and given license to raid despite hassle from Ryan Cristie – he started the move that he finished off with a super goal. Big punt up to Bruno Fernandes set up United’s third.

Casemiro: 8. Hoovered up in front of the United back line and arrived in the box to volley home the opening goal from six yards out. Good range of risky defence splitting passes.

Bruno Fernandes: 7. Good movement around midfield. Moved central after Donny van de Beek went off and remained vocal throughout – had a late shot saved.

Christian Eriksen: 7. Superb free kick arrowed in for Casemiro to open the scoring, connected up midfield well before going off for a rest.

Donny van de Beek: 6. Looked rusty at times before being taken out by an agricultural tackle by Marcos Senesi just before half time – and he cut a dejected figure as he limped straight down the tunnel.

Marcus Rashford: 8. Worked hard on the left flank and won the free kick from which United opened the scoring. Had a 20 yard pot shot go wide in the second half after the reshuffle which sent him to the right flank. Had a tap in at the end.

Anthony Martial: 6. Headed wide early on and was brave when trying to get on the end of a deep Casemiro cross.

Alejandro Garnacho (on for Donny van de Beek, 45+1): 7. Great awareness to find Luke Shaw for his goal. Hit the post and had a shot saved near the end.

Fred (for Christian Eriksen, 68): 6. Not much to do in midfield with Bournemouth unable to fashion much.

Diogo Dalot (for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 68): 6. Good game to come back in. Had a shot tipped over by Mark Travers.

Anthony Elanga (for Anthony Martial, 68): 6. Came on to play centre forward.

Lisandro Martinez (for Victor Lindelof, 88): Big cheer for the Argentine as he came on at the end
