PLAYER RATINGS – Manchester United 3, Everton 1 (FA Cup 3rd Round)

De Gea: 5. Demarai Gray’s shot came off the post and rebounded behind him for a corner but the calamity continued when he allowed Neal Maupay’s cross through his legs and Conor Coady snatched the equaliser from the loose ball. Also came out of his area to try and get the ball, later easily beaten by Dominic Calvert-Lewin but saved by VAR. Gratefully saved a tame shot from Demarai Gray in added time.

Diogo Dalot: 6. Too slow to react to David De Gea’s howler.

Raphael Varane: 6. Easily dealt with Neal Maupay.

Luke Shaw: 6. Comfortable at the back.

Malacia: 6. Confused himself trying stepovers on the edge of the Everton box. Outpaced Alex Iwobi to delivery a great tackle and stop him getting a clean run on goal.

Casemiro: 6. Saw an early shot go over the bar. Wholeheartedly involved in the dark arts combating Everton’s abrasiveness but passing was sloppy at times.

Bruno Fernandes: 6. Booked early, not much inspiration tonight as he was singled out and well marshalled. Had a long range shot tipped over.

Christian Eriksen: 6. Curled a great ball just over the bar just before half time.

Antony: 7. Slid in to open the scoring after 4 minutes. Showing signs of all round improvement and had a second half shot saved.

Marcus Rashford: 7. Delivered a great cross for Antony to convert and another through ball for Martial should have been converted. Riled up by Ben Godfrey all night but had shots of hs own saved. His cutback was turned into his own goal by Conor Coady and he had a late free kick turned over the bar by Jordan Pickford before hitting another late goal.

Anthony Martial: 6. Released Marcus Rashford for the opening goal, saw a shot go wide and another one saved by Jordan Pickford.

Fred (on for Casemiro, 71): 6. Wasn’t tuned into the action when he came on.

Alejandro Garnacho (on for Anthony Martial, 71): 6. Showed flashes of what has made him popular.

Lisandro Martinez (on for Tyrell Malacia, 76): No time to mark

Harry Maguire (on for Christian Eriksen, 81): No time to mark

Scott McTominay (on for Antony, 81): No time to mark.
