Ryan De Havilland is England C matchwinner as they avenge last season’s 4-0 loss to Cymru C

ENGLAND C 1 CYMRU C 0

Ryan De Havilland was England C’s matchwinner against Cymru C in an international non-league challenge match.

The Barnet midfielder struck the decisive goal in first half stoppage time at Altrincham’s J Davison Stadium in front of a crowd of 840.

It was a sweet victory for England who were beaten 4-0 by Wales in Caernarfon in last season’s corresponding fixture.

This was the fourth international between the two teams with England edging 2-1 ahead with the other game drawn.

It was a far from full strength England side with no players from the top four teams in Vanarama National League featuring.

England goalkeeper Sam Howes, who plays for Wealdstone, made two big saves to deny Kayne Owen and Sam Jones.

And their importance was underlined when England went ahead in the fifth of five added minutes of stoppage time in the opening period.

Wales’ keeper Alex Ramsey made a great double save to deny Joe Sbarra and Josh Lundstram but as the ball rebounded for a second time De Havilland made no mistake firing high into the roof of the net.

The second half was equally lacklustre with few chances.

England had a great chance to double their lead when Solihull Moors’ Joe Sbarra latched on to a weak back pass, but substitute goalkeeper Connor Roberts made an important block.
