Casemiro, Anthony Martial, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford put the Reds 4-0 up with Chelsea securing little more than a consolation with a minute to go through Joao Felix.

The Reds will worry about potential injuries to Antony and Luke Shaw and the open nature of their defending against a Chelsea side that have been unable to score many goals recently.

What will also worry Erik Ten Hag is the fact that Frank Lampard’s side carved out several decent chances against United who also wasted several chances of their own – including two shots that hit the woodwork.

PLAYER RATINGS – Manchester United 4, Chelsea 1

David De Gea: 7. Saved a deflected effort from Conor Gallagher plus chances by Lewis Hall and Mykhailo Mudryk.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 6. Allowed Lewis Hall a free run down his flank for an early chance but defensively as Chelsea pumped balls into the box.

Raphael Varane: 7. Cool defending.

Victor Lindelof: 7. Filled in well in United’s defence in a decent partnership with Varane.

Luke Shaw: 6. Taken off at half time which will be an injury worry for fans.

Casemiro: 8. Rose majestically to head home Bruno Fernandes’ free kick.

Christian Eriksen: 7. Great free kick to set up Casemiro some good moves and almost gathered a loose ball for a tap in.

Antony: 6. Slipped when shooting sending his effort wide, and serious looking injury summed up his luckless season.

Bruno Fernandes: 8. Improved after a poor start. Struck crossbar in the second half after a cutback by Jadon Sancho before he finally got the chance to score from the spot after being brought down by Wesley Fofana. Laid on chances that should have been converted

Jadon Sancho: 7. Poor first touch denied him an early chance. Had another effort blocked. Provided the ball to Anthony Martial for his goal.

Anthony Martial: 7. Couldn’t trap the ball at all, ruining three great chances in the first half alone. And then he scored a tap-in during first half added time.

Marcus Rashford (on for Antony, 29): 8. Little service after he came on, a Bruno Fernandes cutback was behind him. Showed he may be fit to start a game soon with a lung busting run in the second half and scored United’s 4th – his 30th goal of the season.

Tyrell Malacia (on for Luke Shaw, 46): 6. Slotted in at left back.

Alejandro Garnacho (on for Antony Martial, 70): 7. Got fans out of their seats and hit the crossbar.

Fred (on for Christian Eriksen, 70): 6. Mixed it up in midfield

Scott McTominay (on for Bruno Fernandes, 85): No time to mark
