Manchester City completed their second signing of the summer by landing goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea.

The 33-year-old joins from Chelsea on a one-year deal for a nominal fee until June 2026 and replaces the popular reserve keeper Scott Carson who left the club after 6 trophy laden seasons with the club
Bettinelli is a graduate of Fulham’s academy and made over 100 appearances for The Cottagers’ first team as well as going on loan several times for the West London club.
In 2021 he made the short move across London to Chelsea where he was part of the squad that won the FIFA Club World Cup that year.
And after arriving at the Etihad Stadium City confirmed that he would be wearing the number 13 shirt for the club in the forthcoming season.
Bettinelli said: “It’s an honour to sign for City. I have admired from afar what this Club have achieved since Pep Guardiola arrived and now, I am excited to be a part of building on that success.
“I can’t wait to work with Pep, Xabi Mancisidor and the excellent goalkeepers already here and see their methods up close.
“Hopefully I can contribute in training, the dressing room and on the pitch as we look to win more silverware over the next year.”
Director of Football Hugo Viana added: “We’re really pleased that we’ll be adding Marcus to our squad this summer.
“He’s been in the Premier League for a long time and will bolster what is already a strong goalkeeping unit.
“His experience and mentality will hopefully complement our other senior goalkeepers while ensuring he’s always ready to perform when called upon himself.”
