Pep Guardiola Man City vs Newcastle Utd Post Match Press Conference January 2018

MAN CITY 3, NEWCASTLE UNITED 1

Sergio Aguero scored the perfect hat trick – left foot, right foot, header – as Manchester City returned to winning ways after losing their unbeaten Premier League record at Liverpool.

City swept past Newcastle United as Aguero inflicted the damage almost single-handedly against the club he cannot stop scoring against.

The last time Newcastle visited the Etihad, Aguero hit five in a 6-1 demolition and overall he has now netted 14 goals in 11 Premier League games against the Toon Army.

This was also Aguero’s 11th hat trick for City and second of the current campaign in which he has already scored 22 goals.

Refreshed Manchester United beat struggling Stoke City on night when talk was rife of Alexis Sanchez move to Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho Man Utd vs Stoke City Post Match Press Conference January 2018

MAN UNITED 3, STOKE CITY 0

Jose Mourinho spoke about the mid-season break in Dubai as a time for Manchester United to “refresh and refocus”.

And that certainly looked the case as the Reds brushed past relegation-threatened Stoke City at Old Trafford.

Goals from Antonio Valencia, Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku cut Manchester City’s advantage at the top of the table from 15 to 12 points.

And with Alexis Sanchez’ imminent arrival from Arsenal, United’s manager will have extra firepower to call upon as they attempt to make further inroads into City’s seemingly unassailable lead.

Manchester City no longer invincibles after first league defeat of season at Liverpool

January 14, 2018 by Tony Bugby

LIVERPOOL 4, MAN CITY 3

Manchester City won’t be invincibles after suffering their first Premier League defeat of the season at Liverpool.

But Pep Guardiola’s side almost pulled off a remarkable recovery as, 4-1 down with six minutes left, they appeared down and out.

Late goals from substitute Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan set up a pulsating finish in which Sergio Aguero so nearly scored an equaliser at the death on the ground where they have won only once since 1981.

This was City’s first domestic defeat since April when they lost at Chelsea while for Liverpool they are now unbeaten in 18 games in all competitions, their best run since Jurgen Klopp took charge.
