Liverpool land Champions League knockout blow against Manchester City
MAN CITY 1, LIVERPOOL 2
(Liverpool won 5-1 on aggregate)
AFTER breezing through the 2017/18 campaign for more than eight months, Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have suddenly been found lacking at the business end of the season.
Three defeats in a disastrous seven days – twice to Liverpool in the quarter finals of the Champions League and also in the Manchester derby – have exposed chinks in the armour of Guardiola who had until now done little wrong.
Back-to-form Marcus Rashford is Manchester United hero in win against arch-rivals Liverpool
MAN UTD 2, LIVERPOOL 1
Marcus Rashford’s double sent Manchester United five points clear of Liverpool in second place in the Premier League.
The Reds’ striker, starting his first league game since Boxing Day, certainly enhanced his claims for a regular starting spot.

And it proved an absorbing contest and far removed to the four previous meetings that all ended in deadlock.
Relegation battle looms as listless Terriers overrun by Liverpool
HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0, LIVERPOOL 3
Liverpool scored two first half goals through Emre Can and Roberto Firmino and a second half Mo Salah penalty to strengthen their grip on fourth place and leave Huddersfield Town teetering on the brink of the bottom four tomorrow after a poor performance at the John Smith’s Stadium – the first time Town had suffered a second consecutive home league defeat of the season.
It was Liverpool’s first league visit to Huddersfield since February 1972 – almost a 46 year gap. They lost an FA Cup tie in 1999 and were well beaten at Anfield last October and if they continue to put out listless performances like tonight they will certainly be dragged into the relegation mire if they continue to be goal shy.
