Relegation battle looms as listless Terriers overrun by Liverpool

January 30, 2018 by Paul Chan

David Wagner Huddersfield Town vs Liverpool 2018

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0, LIVERPOOL 3

Liverpool scored two first half goals through Emre Can and Roberto Firmino and a second half Mo Salah penalty to strengthen their grip on fourth place and leave Huddersfield Town teetering on the brink of the bottom four tomorrow after a poor performance at the John Smith’s Stadium – the first time Town had suffered a second consecutive home league defeat of the season.

It was Liverpool’s first league visit to Huddersfield since February 1972 – almost a 46 year gap. They lost an FA Cup tie in 1999 and were well beaten at Anfield last October and if they continue to put out listless performances like tonight they will certainly be dragged into the relegation mire if they continue to be goal shy.

Manchester City no longer invincibles after first league defeat of season at Liverpool

January 14, 2018 by Tony Bugby

LIVERPOOL 4, MAN CITY 3

Manchester City won’t be invincibles after suffering their first Premier League defeat of the season at Liverpool.

But Pep Guardiola’s side almost pulled off a remarkable recovery as, 4-1 down with six minutes left, they appeared down and out.

Late goals from substitute Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan set up a pulsating finish in which Sergio Aguero so nearly scored an equaliser at the death on the ground where they have won only once since 1981.

This was City’s first domestic defeat since April when they lost at Chelsea while for Liverpool they are now unbeaten in 18 games in all competitions, their best run since Jurgen Klopp took charge.

Defences rule in bore draw between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield

October 14, 2017 by Tony Bugby

LIVERPOOL 0, MAN UNITED 0 PERHAPS this was the least surprising result as Manchester United were involved in a goalless draw at Liverpool for the second successive season. United set up to frustrate and primarily to ensure they didn’t lose, a ploy that again succeeded. But hopes of snatching a victory that would have given […]

September 9, 2017 by Tony Bugby

MAN CITY 5, LIVERPOOL 0 Not many saw this coming as Manchester City recorded their biggest win against Liverpool since 1937. City produced a devastating display that showed why they are favourites for the Premier League title as they humiliated one of their main rivals. True City were helped when Liverpool were reduced to 10 […]
